It's not a secret that Nurseries are the most adorable rooms in any home. And why shouldn't they be, after all they're that room of the house where the most love in decorating goes. I don't know any mom, or dad who doesn't want to give their little one anything less than an enchanted wonderland. I remember the countless number of hours I spent reading about nursery decoration, planning & designing the prefect cot & dècor that goes around it.
We knew we could not settle for one of those mass produced cribs. I remember endless trips to the mall & furniture stores and coming out with a bummed face, and not even being able to have wine to drown the sorrow. That's when we started to design an extraordinary cot, which was also the inception of Parrot & Lily.
I can not get over the elegance & magic that these tiara pediments are bringing in. Don't you think that enchantment should be one of the first things that we should teach them.
A very important part of a beautiful nursery is good seating - a comfortable bergère, a petit louis XV armchair, a beautiful day bed. I can't reiterate the number of times I have fallen asleep while making Sayuri sleep. That too, on her little armchair.
Or you could go all out and create the drama. There's baroque and chinoiserie for that. Had I seen either of these inspirations earlier, I probably would have gone that way.
No matter what you do, remember to have fun, don't be afraid to experiment and in my opinion, try to stick to neutral colours. And most of all, give them unique things to cherish for a lifetime.
All children are unique, let's try to not give them mass produced. In the end, this is what it's all about, isn't it.
Beautiful work dear Tulika ☺
