Classic Louis XV Duchesse
Like an unsure ballet dancer on her first night, the duchesse appears to be standing on it's pointes as if uncertain of which direction to hop.
The Duchesse or Duchesse-brisée became popular in the 1750s in the new drive for comfort inspired by the French court at Versailles. The Duchesse is essentially a day bed with one end taller than the other- an armchair and a low chauffeuse joined together by a stool or a tabouret.
